?canvas-id=im_0203b3baf406d495 with map side panel open)Planning a birthday trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas for the weekend of November 14th, 2026 involves comparing your travel options, booking luxurious accommodations, matching strict kosher dining constraints (kosher fish, certified kosher meat, and vegan/vegetarian options with no dairy and no sushi), arranging activities, and selecting the ultimate birthday cake.

Part 1: Flight Comparison (Thursday Night vs. Friday Night)
Thursday Night, November 12, 2026:
Airlines & Prices: Frontier Airlines offers economy flights (such as the 7:32 PM departure arriving at 7:46 PM) starting around $140 round-trip, while Southwest and American Airlines offer evening options starting at $249 round-trip.
Advantage: Arriving Thursday night gives you a full extra night and a relaxed Friday morning before weekend events begin.
Friday Night, November 13, 2026:
Airlines & Prices: Frontier Airlines has flights (like the 7:32 PM departure) for $140 round-trip, with Southwest offering morning and midday flights starting at $249 round-trip.
Advantage: Requires less time away from work, though arriving Friday evening leaves a tighter window before Shabbat/evening plans.
All itineraries return Sunday night, November 15, 2026.

Goldbelly Shipping Comparison:
Nationally acclaimed bakeries (such as We Take the Cake or Bake Me A Wish, which offers certified kosher-supervised options under the OK Kosher authority) can ship a birthday cake directly to your Las Vegas hotel.
Pricing: Goldbelly specialty celebration cakes range from $55 to $90+, with shipping costs varying by delivery speed (though many select items feature included shipping).

Conclusion: Las Vegas can work well given its high-end multi-room suites and family attractions, but navigating strict kosher requirements (especially finding certified kosher restaurants that also satisfy diabetic, no-dairy, and fish/vegetarian criteria) requires careful coordination, as dining options are relatively limited compared to larger Jewish metropolitan centers.
If you prefer a coastal, highly walkable alternative with phenomenal outdoor hiking, world-class family attractions for an 8-year-old, and robust kosher dining infrastructure, San Diego, California is an outstanding alternative getaway from Phoenix.
Flights: Short, direct 1-hour flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) to San Diego (SAN) on Southwest, American, or Delta, with round-trip economy fares averaging $180 to $260.
Hotels (5-Star 2-Bedroom Suites):
The Pendry San Diego or The Lodge at Torrey Pines offer luxury multi-room suites and cottages with separate bedrooms and beautiful coastal/city settings, averaging $450 to $750 per night.
Food & Kosher Options:
San Diego has a thriving kosher community (primarily centered in La Jolla and the College Area). Certified kosher establishments like Kosher Playabowls, local kosher-supervised bakeries, and upscale restaurants provide certified meat, fresh kosher fish, and vegan/vegetarian options with dairy-free safety.
Activities for an 8-Year-Old & Hiking:
Activities: The world-famous San Diego Zoo, Sesame Place San Diego, or Birch Aquarium.

Hiking: Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve offers breathtaking coastal cliff trails overlooking the Pacific Ocean (ranging from easy walks to 2–3 mile scenic loops; entry is $15/vehicle or free street parking outside).
Birthday Cake: Local San Diego kosher-certified bakeries can design a custom celebration cake for $50 to $80, or you can still utilize Goldbelly shipping.
Here is a comprehensive comparison of Texas destinations (Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas) and New Orleans as weekend getaway alternatives from Phoenix for the weekend of November 13–15, 2026.

Austin (AUS):
Airlines & Nonstops: Southwest and American offer frequent daily nonstops.
Flight Time: ~2 hours, 15 minutes.
Price: Round-trip economy starting around $294.
San Antonio (SAT):
Airlines & Nonstops: Southwest and American operate direct nonstops.
Flight Time: ~2 hours, 5 minutes.
Price: Round-trip economy starting around $348.
Houston (IAH):
Airlines & Nonstops: United and American operate daily nonstops.
Flight Time: ~2 hours, 40 minutes.
Price: Round-trip economy starting around $255 (Frontier offers cheaper connecting flights, but nonstops are best).
Dallas (DFW):
Airlines & Nonstops: American Airlines provides robust daily nonstops.
Flight Time: ~2 hours, 30 minutes.
Price: Round-trip economy starting around $347 (nonstop).
New Orleans (MSY):
Airlines & Nonstops: American operates direct nonstops.
Flight Time: ~3 hours.
Price: Direct round-trip economy starts higher, around $815 (connecting options on Southwest/United run around $503).
Austin:
Four Seasons Hotel Austin: Stunning luxury on Lady Bird Lake. Offers expansive multi-bedroom suites and residential options. Walkable to: Rainey Street, Congress Avenue Bridge (bats), and downtown trails.

Commodore Perry Estate: A historic 10-acre luxury mansion property in Hyde Park (more secluded/estate vibe rather than downtown walking).
San Antonio:
Hotel Emma: A legendary 5-star boutique hotel inside a former 19th-century brewhouse at the Historic Pearl. Features breathtaking multi-room suites/lofts. Walkable to: The Pearl District's weekend farmers market, boutiques, and the northern River Walk extension.

Houston:
The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston: Houston's only AAA Five-Diamond luxury tower, featuring extravagant multi-bedroom executive suites and villas. Walkable to: High-end shopping and dining in the Uptown/Galleria district.
Four Seasons Hotel Houston: Located downtown near Discovery Green with great multi-room suites and high-end amenities.
Dallas:
The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas: Acclaimed luxury offering spacious residential suites with multiple separate sleeping quarters. Walkable to: Uptown Dallas dining, Klyde Warren Park, and the Arts District.
New Orleans:
Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans: Towering over the Mississippi River at the foot of Canal Street. Offers luxurious multi-room suites with separate sleeping areas. Walkable to: The French Quarter, Audubon Aquarium, and Riverfront streetcars.
Note across Texas and New Orleans: While major Texas cities have active kosher communities (especially Dallas and Houston), finding sit-down restaurant options that adhere strictly to certified kosher meat/fish while completely avoiding dairy and sushi can require utilizing local kosher bakeries, markets, or catering options alongside upscale venues offering certified kosher-supervised meals.
Dallas (Best in Texas for Kosher Infrastructure): Home to robust kosher markets and establishments under Dallas Kosher (AKC) supervision (such as Meat Point or local certified kosher grill options) offering certified kosher meats and vegetarian/fish dishes completely separate from dairy.
Houston: Features certified kosher bakeries and specialty caterers, alongside high-end restaurants in the Galleria/Meyerland areas that can accommodate strict dietary restrictions.
Austin & San Antonio: Have very limited certified kosher sit-down dining. Visitors typically rely on local H-E-B kosher sections, specialty catering, or pre-ordered certified meals delivered to their hotel suite.

New Orleans: Features historic Jewish heritage, but strict certified kosher sit-down restaurants are very scarce; guests typically coordinate kosher catering packages in advance through local community resources (like Chabad of Louisiana).

Austin: Thinkery (an innovative, hands-in children's museum in the Mueller district) and renting paddleboards on Lady Bird Lake.
San Antonio: The DoSeum (San Antonio's interactive children's museum featuring a massive outdoor adventure area) and a gentle afternoon boat ride on the San Antonio River Walk.
Houston: Space Center Houston (NASA's official visitor center where an 8-year-old can tour real spacecraft and touch a moon rock) and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Dallas: Perot Museum of Nature and Science (a phenomenal 5-story museum with dinosaur fossils and interactive engineering labs) and the Dallas World Aquarium.
New Orleans: Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium right on the riverfront, or taking an authentic mule-drawn carriage ride through the French Quarter.
For a memorable 40th birthday weekend combined with a multi-generational group (including an 8-year-old and strict dietary needs):
Winner: San Antonio (Staying at Hotel Emma).
Why: Hotel Emma at the Historic Pearl offers a world-class, uniquely luxurious 5-star boutique experience that feels extremely special and celebratory for a 40th birthday, far surpassing standard luxury towers. The Pearl district is incredibly walkable, safe, and vibrant for adults and children alike. An 8-year-old will love the DoSeum and the River Walk, and short nonstop flights from Phoenix make travel seamless.
Runner-Up: Austin (Four Seasons Austin) or Houston (The Post Oak).
Why: Austin provides a vibrant energy, great outdoor spaces, and luxury lakeside living, while Houston offers unmatched high-end luxury at The Post Oak and incredible space-themed activities for an 8-year-old.

Las Vegas Birthday Weekend
November 12–15, 2026 · Phoenix → Las Vegas
My recommendation
Fly Thursday evening, November 12, and return Sunday evening, November 15. That gives you two full days in Las Vegas, including Saturday, November 14, for the main birthday celebration.
I'd prioritize The Venetian Resort Las Vegas because it has a verified two-bedroom suite configuration with a king bed, two queen beds, and a separate pull-out sofa—meeting your requirement for four sleeping surfaces and two private bedrooms.

The most important booking distinction: many Las Vegas hotels advertise a large suite but only provide one actual bedroom. I'll exclude those from the primary recommendations.
Thursday departure
Preferred
November 12–15 · 3 hotel nights · Friday and Saturday available for activities
Friday departure
November 13–15 · 2 hotel nights · Lower hotel cost, but Saturday is your only full day
These are upcoming dates, but the booking sources I could access did not expose confirmed airfare or nightly suite quotes for your exact combinations. Below, I distinguish published ticket prices, comparable airfare, and planning estimates rather than presenting estimates as bookable deals.
Nonstop · PHX to LAS · approximately 1 hour 10 minutes in the air
Airline | Published fare reference | Suggested round-trip budget per person
Southwest Airlines | From $59 one-way on other November dates | $140–$280
American Airlines | From $117 round trip on other November dates | $150–$320
Frontier Airlines | From $23 one-way on other November dates | $90–$220 before extras
The published reference fares come from the airlines' websites, not tickets confirmed for November 12/13–15. Baggage and seating charges may change the comparison. Southwest Airlines +2
Compare the two flight plans
Thu Nov 12
Fri Nov 13
Thursday evening → Sunday evening
Outbound Nov 12, preferred departure after 6 PM. Return Nov 15, preferred departure after 6 PM. All times local; Phoenix and Las Vegas are one hour apart in November.
Southwest — Best first check for convenient evening flights — Check fares
American — Compare nonstop times from its Phoenix hub — Check fares
Frontier — Potentially lowest fare; check luggage costs — Check fares
Frontier's published schedule shows a flight around 7:32 PM from Phoenix on both Thursday and Friday, though that is not confirmation of a seat or fare. Direct Flights
Flight recommendation: I would pay approximately $50–$100 more per traveler for a better-timed Southwest or American flight rather than let an inconvenient departure compromise a short birthday trip.
The ranges below are provisional nightly budgets, not live quotes for November 12–15. Hotel taxes, resort fees, and availability require confirmation.
Best layout match
The Venetian — Corner Two Bedroom Suite
2,800 sq ft · 2 bedrooms · 3 bathrooms
3 regular beds + 1 pull-out sofa
One king in the primary bedroom, two queens in the second, plus a pull-out sofa in the separate living area. Includes pool table and dining space.

Planning allowance: $1,500–$3,000+/night
Official room configuration confirmed. Rate not verified.
View suite and booking
The Venetian — Presidential Two Bedroom Suite
5,200 sq ft · 2 bedrooms · butler service
Three verified beds (one king and two queens in the listed configuration). Additional sleeping arrangements need confirmation. Includes a theater and billiard room.
Planning allowance: $4,000–$8,000+/night
Not yet verified as a four-bed option.
View presidential suite
ARIA — Two Bedroom Sky Villa
3,370 sq ft · 2 bedrooms · butler service
Two king beds, four guests maximum. Spectacular luxury but does not meet your 3–4 bed requirement.
Planning allowance: $3,000–$7,000+/night
Included as a luxury comparison only.
View ARIA villa
For these high-end suites, a direct hotel quote is more reliable than a third-party hotel search. I'd also request a quote for two connecting rooms at Wynn or Encore. That may deliver four regular beds, two private sleeping rooms, and substantially better value, but the connecting configuration must be guaranteed in writing.

Hotel cost comparison
Configuration | Thursday, 3 nights | Friday, 2 nights
Venetian Corner Two Bedroom | $4,500–$9,000+ | $3,000–$6,000+
Venetian Presidential | $12,000–$24,000+ | $8,000–$16,000+
Two connecting luxury rooms, budget alternative | $1,500–$3,300+ | $1,000–$2,200+
These are deliberately broad planning scenarios, excluding resort fees and taxes. They are not quoted hotel offers.
Important: Your desired bedroom layout is uncommon in genuine luxury suites. The Venetian Corner Suite is a better fit than paying presidential-suite prices for excess entertainment space and fewer sleeping options.
Saturday, November 14 is Shabbat. Most certified kosher restaurants will be closed during the day and may reopen Saturday night or Sunday. Arrange the actual birthday dinner for Saturday night only after confirming reopening hours, or hold the kosher catered birthday dinner in the suite on Friday evening.
For fish, select a kosher species such as salmon or sea bass with the required skin/scales identification and kosher preparation. A fish dish at an uncertified restaurant is not automatically kosher. Likewise, vegan does not establish kosher certification.
Jerusalem Chef's Table
4825 W Flamingo Rd #10, Las Vegas, NV 89103, United States
Best candidate for an upscale kosher birthday dinner. Hummus, chopped salads, eggplant and other Mediterranean vegetarian choices; meat dishes for guests who want certified kosher meat.
Estimated food budget: $50–$90 per person.
Saturday evening service not confirmed.
Burnt Offerings - Where Foodies Dine!
3909 W Sahara Ave Ste 10, Las Vegas, NV 89102, United States
OU-certified glatt kosher American restaurant. Steak, chicken, stir-fries and vegetable sides. A strong alternative for a traditional celebratory meal.
Estimated food budget: $40–$75 per person.
Check fish availability, dairy-free preparations and evening opening.
Shawarma Vegas
8470 W Desert Inn Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89117, United States
Glatt kosher Israeli food, falafel, salads, hummus and grilled meat. Good for casual Thursday or Friday food rather than the principal birthday dinner.
Estimated food budget: $20–$35 per person.
Rafi's Place Glatt Kosher Catering of Las Vegas
1261 S Arville St, Las Vegas, NV 89102, United States
Best logistics option to investigate for Friday-night Shabbat dinner delivered to the hotel.
Allow $40–$90 per person for a catered meal; quote required.
[Map: 4.1 Jerusalem Chef's Table · 4.2 Burnt Offerings · 4.5 Shawarma Vegas · 4.9 Rafi's Place · 5.0 Chaya's Catering]
I'd specifically ask the two dinner restaurants whether they can serve a certified kosher grilled salmon dish with olive oil, vegetables and no dairy-containing sauce. Fish entrees were not independently confirmed on their current menus.
For diabetes-friendly ordering, grilled protein, non-starchy vegetables and hummus in a measured portion are easier to plan around than pita, breaded entrées, sweet sauces or dessert. Keep your usual glucose supplies accessible during shows and excursions.
Saturday has an unusually strong lineup of concerts and shows. Here are the published starting ticket prices I found for the actual date. Fees and preferred seats may cost more. VegasNearMe +1
The Wizard of Oz at Sphere — From $122/person — Listed at 2 PM and 5 PM. A strong birthday experience combining enormous visuals, sound and immersion.

O by Cirque du Soleil — From $126/person — Listed at 6:30 PM and 9 PM. My choice for a sophisticated, memorable birthday evening.
Lionel Richie at Encore Theater — From $186/person — Listed at 8 PM. Particularly good if the birthday celebration is for an adult who enjoys classic hits.
Eagles at Sphere — From $596/person — Listed at 8:30 PM. The premium splurge if the guest of honor loves the band.
Other worthwhile choices include Teddy Swims (from $145), KÀ by Cirque du Soleil (from $70), and Blue Man Group (from $57). VegasNearMe
Suggested birthday-day schedule
10 AM — Leisurely breakfast and suite celebration — Enjoy a prepared kosher breakfast and pool or spa relaxation. No rushed transportation.
2 PM — Sphere: The Wizard of Oz — From $122 per person. Alternatively, enjoy an afternoon at the hotel if observing Shabbat.
6 PM — Birthday cake and photos at the suite — Present the custom birthday cake before the evening entertainment.
9 PM — O by Cirque du Soleil — From $126 per person, followed by a late celebratory meal if a kosher restaurant has reopened.
If you're observing Shabbat travel and entertainment restrictions, use Saturday for an in-suite celebration and move the shows to after Shabbat. The schedule above assumes Saturday daytime activities are acceptable.
Your dairy-free and kosher requirements change my recommendation substantially. The most photogenic cake from a famous bakery isn't necessarily suitable.
Best fit — Chaya's Catering — Local, kosher-certified pareve desserts. Can discuss a custom birthday cake. Budget $100–$250+ (estimate). Exact design, price, and delivery require a quote. 702-728-1626 · Cake inquiries
Flour Shop Vegan Rainbow Explosion Cake — $199.95 before shipping — Serves 13–15. Dairy-free vegan ingredients with colorful candy spilling out when sliced. Currently waitlisted; kosher certification not established. View on Goldbelly
Milk Bar Birthday Cake — Famous layered confetti birthday cake, serving approximately 10–12. Contains dairy, so I would exclude it from your birthday order. View cake
Shipping a Goldbelly cake to Las Vegas
Goldbelly says actual shipping is calculated by item, destination, selected delivery date and handling charges. Free shipping is sometimes available, but Saturday can incur a surcharge. Goldbelly Help
For the $199.95 vegan Explosion Cake, this is a hypothetical landed-price comparison, not a verified checkout quote:
Shipping scenario | Cake + shipping
Free shipping | $199.95
$25 shipping allowance | $224.95
$50 shipping allowance | $249.95
Tax and handling fees may be additional. The cake is currently waitlisted and cannot be relied on for November 14. Goldbelly
My cake choice: commission a distinctive, tall, Vegas-themed pareve birthday cake from Chaya's. You get stronger kosher assurance, customization and fewer shipping risks. A small plated, lower-sugar alternative could be arranged separately, but don't assume a vegan or gluten-free cake is low in carbohydrates.
For a shipped cake, schedule delivery for Thursday, November 12, confirm cold storage with the hotel's concierge, and don't rely on a Saturday delivery.
The following planning budget assumes four travelers, economy nonstop flights, and one Venetian Corner Two Bedroom Suite. Food, activities and cake are modeled allowances rather than confirmed quotes.
Customize your group budget — Illustrative USD — Travelers 4 — Departure and hotel nights: Thursday, Nov 12 — 3 nights / Friday, Nov 13 — 2 nights
Flights ($210/person) $840
Hotel ($2,000/night) $6,000
Celebration dinner ($80/person) $320
Sphere + O tickets ($248/person) $992
Birthday cake $200
Illustrative subtotal $8,352
Excludes other meals, local transportation, resort fees, taxes, gratuities and optional upgrades.
At these assumptions, leaving Friday saves approximately $2,000 in hotel charges and gives up most of Friday in Las Vegas. That is the central financial tradeoff.
Final booking priorities
One detail will materially improve the hotel and activity recommendations:
How many travelers? 3 / 4 / 5 / 6+
Who's celebrating? Adults with younger children / Adults only / Family with teenagers

Birthday trip update: Las Vegas with an 8-year-old
My verdict: Las Vegas is still a good choice, especially if the goal is a luxury suite, spectacular birthday entertainment and outdoor adventures. But with an 8-year-old, I would change the itinerary: spend less time on the Strip and more time at Red Rock Canyon, interactive attractions and family-friendly shows.

I would also seriously compare San Diego. It offers a better overall mix of children's activities, beaches, coastal hiking and a relaxed family atmosphere.

November is one of the better times to hike around Las Vegas. The cooler weather makes desert trails much more enjoyable, although November daylight is relatively short.
Calico Tanks Trail — Top pick — Red Rock Canyon · about 35–45 min driving from central Strip — 2.2 miles round trip · 1.5–2.5 hours — Colorful sandstone, interesting rock formations and moderate scrambling. Suitable for an active 8-year-old with supervision, but there are uneven sections. — Park admission $20/car + $2 timed-reservation fee.
Lost Creek Children's Discovery Trail — Red Rock Canyon · about 35–45 min driving — 0.7 mile loop · 30–60 minutes — Easier family hike with rock art, desert plants and a seasonal waterfall. — Included with Red Rock Canyon vehicle admission.
White Domes Loop Trailhead — Valley of Fire · about 70–90 min driving — 1.1-mile loop · 45–75 minutes — Dramatic sandstone, a short slot canyon and changing scenery. Probably the most memorable short hike for family photos. — $15 per non-Nevada vehicle. State Parks

Fire Wave — Valley of Fire · about 75–95 min driving — Approximately 1.5 miles round trip · 60–90 minutes — Spectacular striped rock landscape. Appropriate for a child comfortable with sandy, uneven desert terrain. — Included with park admission. November is outside the park's regular summer trail-closure period. State Parks
Cathedral Rock Trail — Mount Charleston · approximately 55–70 min driving — About 2.7 miles round trip · 2–3 hours — Pine forest, mountain air and a beautiful overlook. More challenging and colder than the desert hikes. — Generally free; November snow and trail access may prevent hiking.
Hiking choice: Red Rock Canyon on Friday morning, November 13, if departing Thursday. It offers outstanding scenery without consuming the entire day. Reserve a timed vehicle entry for the 8 AM–5 PM window; reservations are required during November. Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas +1
If leaving Friday evening, save Red Rock for Sunday morning instead.
[Map: Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center · White Domes Loop Trailhead · Fire Wave · Cathedral Rock Trailhead]
For outdoor hiking, bring a glucose meter/CGM supplies, water and fast-acting carbohydrates, particularly for any child or adult who uses insulin. Desert hikes have limited food access and sometimes weak cellular reception.
These are approximate on-foot times, not straight-line distances. The Strip's huge resorts, interior corridors and pedestrian bridges can add significant walking time.
The Venetian Resort
Nearby attraction | Walking time
Grand Canal Shoppes / gondolas | 3–8 min
Sphere | 12–18 min
Wynn / Encore | 12–20 min
LINQ Promenade | 10–15 min
High Roller | 15–20 min
Bellagio fountains | 20–30 min
Fashion Show Mall | 10–15 min
Advantage: The Venetian is the best of your original suite choices for the Sphere, shopping, indoor entertainment and convenient access to the northern-middle Strip.
ARIA Resort & Casino
The Shops at Crystals | 3–5 min
Cosmopolitan | 8–12 min
Bellagio fountains | 12–18 min
Park MGM | 10–15 min
New York-New York | 15–20 min
High Roller | 25–35 min
Sphere | 35–45 min
Advantage: ARIA is particularly well positioned for Bellagio, CityCenter and southern Strip attractions, but its previously discussed two-king-bed villa doesn't meet your sleeping-bed requirements.

Wynn Las Vegas / Encore at Wynn Las Vegas
Fashion Show Mall | 5–12 min
Venetian | 10–20 min
Sphere | 20–30 min
Grand Canal Shoppes | 15–25 min
High Roller | 25–35 min
Bellagio fountains | 35–45 min
Advantage: Wynn/Encore is the most attractive property for a serene luxury atmosphere. Two guaranteed connecting bedrooms would make it worth comparing with The Venetian's proper two-bedroom suite.
For a child, I would avoid planning consecutive 30–45-minute Strip walks. Walking between resorts can take longer than expected, and some routes pass through smoky gaming areas.
These are the attractions I would prioritize instead of adult-oriented concerts.
The Adventuredome Indoor Theme Park — Approx. $30–$60 per person — Indoor roller coasters, family rides and arcade games. Best choice for an energetic 8-year-old. Prices are estimates and rides have height requirements.

Discovery Children's Museum — $20 per person — Nine interactive learning galleries across three floors. Excellent for building, experiments and exploration. DISCOVERY Children's Museum
Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay — Budget $25–$40 per person — Sharks, rays and a dramatic underwater tunnel at Mandalay Bay. A relaxed 60–90-minute activity.

High Roller Observation Wheel — Budget $25–$45 per person — A 30-minute observation-wheel ride with incredible city views. Choose a daytime family cabin rather than a bar-focused experience.
Springs Preserve — $18.95 adult / $10.95 child — Nature trails, desert gardens, museums and exhibits. A quieter alternative to the Strip. Springs Preserve
Also worthwhile: The Aquarium at Silverton Casino (free aquarium viewing), Bellagio's fountains (free), the Venetian gondolas (budget approximately $40–$50 per rider), and the previously discussed Wizard of Oz at Sphere (from $122).
[Map: Adventuredome · Discovery Children's Museum · Shark Reef Aquarium · Botanical Garden at the Springs Preserve · The Aquarium at Silverton Casino · High Roller]
My preferred two-day combination would be Red Rock Canyon + Adventuredome on Friday, followed by Sphere + birthday cake + an evening show on Saturday. Swap the daytime activities for a restful Shabbat if observing.
San Diego has several advantages with an 8-year-old: more family-oriented activities, coastal trails, the zoo, beaches, and villas with kitchens that can make kosher meal preparation easier.
Flights from Phoenix — Nonstop flight time: approximately 1 hour 15–30 minutes.
Airline | Fare for Nov 12–15
American Airlines | From $172 round trip per person, published for these exact dates
Southwest Airlines | Planning range $150–$300 round trip
Frontier Airlines | Planning range $90–$220 round trip before extras
American's $172 fare is a published starting fare for November 12–15, but flight times and remaining inventory were not verified. American Airlines
Luxury accommodations with 3–4 beds
Excellent family match — Shore House at The Del, LXR Hotels & Resorts — Coronado Beach · residential-style luxury — A confirmed two-bedroom configuration has one king bed, two queen beds and one queen sofa bed, sleeping up to seven. There is a full kitchen, dining area and washer/dryer. Hotel del Coronado — Planning allowance: $1,200–$2,500+/night — Not a confirmed November rate. — View exact villa layout
Fairmont Grand Del Mar — Luxury golf, spa and nature resort — The resort's private residential villas can provide multiple bedrooms, but I would request a three-bedroom villa to guarantee enough sleeping surfaces. — Planning allowance: $2,000–$4,500+/night — Specific bed layout and November rate require confirmation. — Explore resort
Walking times at San Diego luxury hotels
Destination | Shore House at The Del | Fairmont Grand Del Mar
Beach | 2–5 min | Not walkable
Nearby shops/cafés | 5–15 min to Coronado Village | Mainly on-property
Resort pools | 2–5 min | 3–10 min
Easy scenic walking | Coronado Beach, immediately nearby | Resort trails, approximately 5–15 min to access
Restaurants | 5–15 min to Coronado restaurants | 3–10 min on-property
Fairmont is more isolated and generally requires a car for off-property attractions. Shore House is the better choice if you want meaningful activities within walking distance.
San Diego family activities
San Diego Zoo — $78 adult / $68 child — Giant pandas, aerial tram and dozens of wildlife exhibits. Allow 4–6 hours. San Diego Zoo
Birch Aquarium — $34.95 adult / $29.95 child online — Penguins, seahorses, sharks and interactive marine-science activities. Birch Aquarium at Scripps

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve — Allow $15–$25 for vehicle parking — Incredible ocean views and family-friendly trails. The Guy Fleming Trail is a good short choice for an 8-year-old.
La Jolla Cove — Free — View sea lions from a safe distance, walk along the coastline and enjoy the seaside scenery.

40th Birthday Weekend: Texas vs. New Orleans

November 12–15, 2026 · Departing Phoenix · Luxury family celebration
My ranking
After factoring in a 40th birthday, an 8-year-old, kosher dining, luxury hotels, and the need for at least two private sleeping rooms, these are my preliminary rankings:
1 San Antonio — Best overall family birthday — River Walk, Pearl District, historic sights and excellent activities for children. My pick

2 New Orleans — Most distinctive 40th birthday — Luxury, live jazz, historic architecture and unforgettable experiences; kosher meals require more preparation.
3 Austin — Best walkable luxury and outdoor activities — Beautiful lakeside hotels, parks and live music; limited certified kosher dining.
4 Houston — Best luxury hotel and kosher food combination — Excellent upscale kosher restaurants and children's museums, but more driving.

5 Dallas — Convenient flights and strong kosher options — Good museums and luxury hotels, but less distinctive for this particular birthday weekend.
An important caveat: if access to certified kosher restaurants takes precedence over walkable sightseeing, Houston moves into the top two.
Thursday evening November 12 or Friday evening November 13, returning Sunday evening November 15.
Destination | Nonstop airlines | Approx. flying time | Round-trip budget/person
Austin (AUS) | American, Southwest, Frontier, Delta | 2h 15m–2h 35m | $200–$400
San Antonio (SAT) | American, Southwest | 2h–2h 25m | $220–$400

Houston (IAH/HOU) | United, American, Frontier (IAH); Southwest (HOU) | 2h 20m–2h 55m | $220–$450
Dallas (DFW/DAL) | American, Frontier (DFW); Southwest (DAL) | 2h 15m–2h 50m | $200–$450
New Orleans (MSY) | American, Southwest | 2h 50m–3h 20m | $350–$550
These are airfare planning allowances, not live confirmed nonstop round-trip quotes for November 12/13–15. They exclude baggage and optional fees. Current published reference fares include Southwest Phoenix–Austin from $119 one-way on November 13, American Phoenix–San Antonio from $247 round trip on November 12–19, and American Phoenix–New Orleans from $361 round trip during November. These references do not establish availability on your exact return date. Southwest Airlines +4
The cheapest New Orleans search result I found involved lengthy connections, which I would exclude entirely. A 20-hour itinerary makes no sense for a weekend celebration.
Thursday versus Friday
Thursday November 12: Three hotel nights, with Friday and Saturday available for experiences. My preferred option.
Friday November 13: Two hotel nights, saving one luxury hotel night, but dramatically limiting usable sightseeing time.
Sunday November 15: Return in the evening, ideally on a nonstop flight.
Texas and Louisiana are on Central Time in November, two hours ahead of Phoenix. A flight departing Phoenix at 7 PM and lasting 2½ hours arrives around 11:30 PM local time. This is a significant consideration with an 8-year-old.
I would prioritize an earlier Thursday evening departure where available. In several cities, Friday-night arrival leaves practically no time beyond hotel check-in.
For your group, I would favor a hotel that can provide three or four beds in two physically separate bedrooms, ideally with an internal connecting door.
The rates below are approximate nightly budgeting ranges, not verified November 12–15 hotel quotes. They are intended to compare likely expense levels, before taxes and fees.
Austin, Texas
Four Seasons Hotel Austin — Best for lakeside luxury and a landmark birthday — $1,500–$3,500+/night for specialty suite — The Congressional Suite has two separate bedrooms with two king beds and space for one rollaway per bedroom. It can also connect to a third bedroom. Four Seasons Hotel Austin — Walk: Lady Bird Lake 2 min · Congress Avenue Bridge 5–8 min · Sixth Street 12–18 min

The Driskill - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt — Historic glamour, right on Sixth Street — $600–$1,500+/night for multiroom configuration — Request a Cattle Baron two-bedroom configuration or the LBJ Suite with its connecting king room. Verify the exact sleeping arrangement. The Driskill — Walk: Sixth Street 1 min · Texas Capitol 12–15 min · Lady Bird Lake 12–18 min

Austin Proper Hotel — Stylish, modern luxury — $800–$1,800+/night for penthouse + room — Its one-bedroom Penthouse Suite can connect to a Premier Double Queen room, creating two private bedrooms with three regular beds. Austin Proper Hotel — Walk: Second Street District 1–3 min · Lady Bird Lake 7–10 min · Sixth Street 12–15 min
Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Collection — Most romantic and exclusive Austin property — $1,200–$2,500+/night for a multiroom allowance — Private estate and gorgeous gardens. Separate accommodations would be needed; a guaranteed connected two-bedroom layout remains unverified. — Walk: Hancock Golf Course area 10–15 min · Downtown attractions require a car
Austin hotel winner: Four Seasons if the budget allows. Austin Proper is the stronger modern-design alternative, while The Driskill may be less suitable for a child who needs quiet early in the evening because of its Sixth Street location.
San Antonio, Texas
Hotel Emma — Best birthday atmosphere — $800–$1,800+/night for two-room allowance — Beautiful historic Pearl District hotel with an excellent design aesthetic. Ask for two connecting rooms or a suite with connecting guest room; the required layout is not yet verified. — Walk: Pearl Plaza 1–3 min · Museum Reach River Walk 3–5 min · San Antonio Museum of Art 12–18 min
InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk by IHG — Best central walkability at a lower price — $450–$1,000+/night for two-room allowance — Luxury hotel on the River Walk with rooftop pool. Two connecting or adjacent rooms require written confirmation. It is upscale but not necessarily independently five-star-rated. — Walk: River Walk 2–5 min · Majestic Theatre 5 min · Alamo 10–13 min · Rivercenter 15–18 min
Best beds for family — Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas — $650–$1,400+/night for suite + connected room — The Hill Country Suite connects to a double-queen bedroom: king + two queens + sleeper sofa. The hotel explicitly markets this as a two-bedroom configuration. It also has a four-bedroom villa with a full kitchen, priced separately. Hyatt +1 — Walk: pools/lazy river 3–10 min · golf and resort trails 5–15 min · River Walk not walkable
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country is not the same category of urban five-star luxury as Hotel Emma. However, it meets the family sleeping requirements more convincingly. Its four-bedroom villa may be an excellent choice for a larger group, with two king bedrooms and two bedrooms containing two queens each.
Houston, Texas
The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston — Most luxurious Houston choice — $1,200–$3,000+/night for multiroom configuration — The hotel publishes both a Post Oak Suite with connecting room and a two-bedroom residential floor plan. Confirm whether the desired residence is available for short hotel stays. The Post Oak — Walk: adjacent luxury auto showrooms 2–5 min · Uptown retail 15–25 min · downtown not walkable
Four Seasons Hotel Houston — Best downtown location — $700–$1,600+/night for suite + connected room allowance — Ask for a suite connecting to a two-queen room. The specific connection is not verified. — Walk: Discovery Green 3–5 min · Toyota Center 8–12 min · George R. Brown Convention Center 8–12 min
Dallas, Texas
The Joule — Best walkable downtown luxury — $650–$1,500+/night for two-room allowance — Request a Joule Suite and a connecting Premier Double room. The hotel offers these room types, but the specific connection is not confirmed. The Joule Dallas Hotel — Walk: Giant Eyeball artwork 1 min · AT&T Discovery District 5 min · Dallas Museum of Art 15–20 min
Thompson Dallas, by Hyatt — Upscale modern alternative — $650–$1,500+/night for connecting/adjacent rooms — Ask for a suite plus second bedroom. Exact connecting configuration requires confirmation. — Walk: AT&T Discovery District 5–8 min · Klyde Warren Park 15–20 min · Dallas Museum of Art 15–20 min
The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas — Best secluded resort experience — $900–$2,000+/night for a multiroom allowance — Golf, spa and a spacious property. Request connected rooms and verify them before booking. — Walk: resort facilities 5–15 min · downtown Dallas requires a car
New Orleans, Louisiana
Best true two-bedroom luxury — Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans — $1,400–$3,500+/night for specialty suite — The 1,625-square-foot City-View Two-Bedroom Suite has two private king bedrooms and allows two rollaways on request, subject to occupancy limits. This is one of the clearest matches in the entire comparison. Four Seasons Hotel — Walk: Aquarium 3–5 min · French Quarter 5–8 min · Jackson Square 12–15 min · French Market 20–25 min — View exact two-bedroom suite
The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel — $650–$1,500+/night for two-room allowance — A historic luxury landmark. Request a suite connecting to a two-bed room; not yet verified. — Walk: Canal Street 3–5 min · Bourbon Street 5–8 min · Jackson Square 13–18 min

The Windsor Court — $700–$1,700+/night for multiroom allowance — Elegant and quieter than staying directly on Bourbon Street. Two private bedrooms require an appropriate connecting arrangement. — Walk: Canal Street 3–5 min · Aquarium 5–8 min · Jackson Square 12–15 min
The strongest verified configurations across all five cities are the Four Seasons Austin Congressional Suite, Four Seasons New Orleans City-View Two-Bedroom Suite, and Hyatt Regency Hill Country Suite with a connecting queen room. The Hyatt's four-bedroom villa is particularly compelling for a larger family.

I evaluated dining based on your actual rules: certified kosher meat, approved kosher fish, and vegetarian or vegan dishes, with no dairy and no sushi.
A restaurant serving salmon or vegan dishes isn't necessarily kosher-certified. For strict kosher observance, use supervised establishments or separately sealed certified meals.
Austin — Limited kosher restaurant selection — Best source: H-E-B Kosher Deli — Kosher-certified rotisserie chicken, deli meats, sandwiches, prepared meals and Shabbat packages. Supervision is listed by Chabad of Austin. Chabad of Austin — Budget $20–$35/person — Plan a caterer-delivered birthday dinner rather than rely on luxury hotel restaurants.
San Antonio — Good kosher preparation options, limited restaurants — Yummy Kosher Grill — Glatt kosher meat restaurant certified by the local Vaad. Published schedule is Monday–Thursday; it is not a Saturday birthday-dinner option. — Budget $20–$40/person — The local Vaad lists catering arrangements through approved supervised kitchens. That is the realistic route for a Friday or Saturday birthday meal. Jewish Federation of San Antonio
Houston — Best for an upscale kosher dinner — CASA Bar & Grill — HKA-certified glatt kosher meat restaurant with a full bar and more celebratory atmosphere. This would be my first restaurant inquiry for the 40th birthday. — Prime Grill & Bar — Glatt kosher Mediterranean restaurant for falafel, hummus, grilled dishes and vegetables. — Budget $45–$100/person for an upscale celebration. — Both require confirmation of the current supervision and Saturday-night reopening.

Dallas — Strong kosher meat options — Meat Point — Israeli-inspired kosher steaks and grilled dishes. — Aderet — Dallas Kosher-supervised Mediterranean meat restaurant with pareve desserts and catering. — Budget $30–$75/person. — Both are in North Dallas, away from the main downtown luxury hotels.
New Orleans — One particularly reliable kosher destination — Kosher Cajun New York Deli & Grocery — Certified by the Louisiana Kashrut Committee. Serves corned beef, pastrami, whitefish and other traditional deli foods; also offers Shabbat catering. bethisraelnola.com +1 — Budget $20–$35/person, catering separately. — Located in Metairie, approximately 20–30 minutes by car from the French Quarter.
For kosher fish, I would specifically request a certified prepared salmon or whitefish dinner with olive oil, lemon and vegetables rather than a dairy sauce. Fish availability needs to be checked with the individual kitchen. For vegetarian guests, falafel, eggplant, hummus and salads are promising options when prepared under acceptable supervision.
Restaurant costs are meal-budget estimates rather than confirmed fixed menus.
San Antonio — Best variety of child-friendly experiences — Natural Bridge Caverns, The DoSeum, River Walk boat cruise, LEGOLAND and SeaWorld.

Dallas World Aquarium | Budget $20–$35/person
Klyde Warren Park | Free
Dallas Zoo | Budget $20–$30/person
All Dallas admission amounts are planning estimates, not date-specific quotes.
For a birthday activity I would choose Natural Bridge Caverns in San Antonio, the Mississippi River cruise in New Orleans, or NASA in Houston. Each has a distinctive experience that an 8-year-old and adults can enjoy together.
For apples-to-apples comparison, I modeled a four-person group with three hotel nights, round-trip nonstop airfare, one celebratory dinner, two activities and a $200 custom pareve birthday cake.
USD · preliminary planning allowances, not available package quotes · excludes taxes, hotel fees, regular meals and ground transportation
Destination | Thursday 3-night trip | Friday 2-night trip
San Antonio | $3,200–$7,000 | $2,600–$5,600
Austin | $3,900–$9,000 | $3,000–$7,100
Houston | $4,000–$9,000 | $3,100–$7,000
Dallas | $3,200–$7,000 | $2,500–$5,600
New Orleans | $5,300–$11,500 | $3,900–$8,000
These modeled totals use the more practical hotel accommodations described earlier, not necessarily each hotel's most expensive signature suite. In particular, a Four Seasons specialty suite or a four-bedroom Hyatt villa may exceed these ranges substantially.
Illustrative Thursday–Sunday group budget — Midpoints of the broad planning ranges for four travelers, not live booking quotes. — San Antonio: Budget midpoint $5.1K · Austin: $6.5K · Houston: $6.5K · Dallas: $5.1K · New Orleans: $8.4K
THU 12 — Fly from Phoenix, check into the luxury hotel — Keep the first evening relaxed, particularly since the destination is two hours ahead of Phoenix.
FRI 13 — Major family attraction + special dinner — San Antonio: Natural Bridge Caverns and Pearl District. New Orleans: Aquarium and French Quarter sightseeing. Houston: NASA Space Center and a kosher dinner.
SAT 14 — The 40th birthday celebration — Birthday cake, family photos, leisurely luxury-hotel time and a special evening. If observing Shabbat, plan kosher meals, walking routes and a celebration within the hotel before sunset Friday, leaving Saturday free of travel and purchases.
SUN 15 — Brunch, relaxed sightseeing, fly home — Choose a short family activity and reserve sufficient time to reach the airport.
Final recommendation — San Antonio — Hotel Emma or Hyatt Hill Country
For a memorable 40th birthday combining luxury and family activities, San Antonio offers the best overall balance.
Stay at Hotel Emma if walkability, architecture and an elegant celebration are the priority. Choose Hyatt Hill Country's confirmed connecting-suite layout if four sleeping surfaces, swimming and resort activities take priority.
There is one weakness to be clear about: San Antonio does not have the depth of upscale certified kosher restaurants that Houston has. I would arrange a supervised private birthday meal rather than build the occasion around an uncertified restaurant.
If the budget supports it and you're comfortable arranging kosher catering, the Four Seasons New Orleans two-bedroom suite could deliver a more memorable adult 40th birthday than any of the Texas properties.
If you want a beautifully prepared certified kosher restaurant dinner, Houston is the strongest practical choice.
Two choices that would finalize the destination
Most important hotel feature: Luxury hotel near walkable attractions / Resort with pools and activities for the 8-year-old / Most impressive suite with private bedrooms
Birthday dinner preference: Certified kosher restaurant / Certified kosher private catering at hotel / Kosher-certified vegetarian or fish meal
Choose the best birthday destination

I couldn't reach the Claude app's browser, so flight and suite prices are estimates from published listings, not live quotes for your dates. Saturday the 14th is Shabbat, so I built the plan around a Saturday-night birthday dinner and recommend flying out Thursday. If you don't keep Shabbat, I can rework Saturday.

Las Vegas Birthday Weekend — Nov 12–15, 2026 (Oct 15, 2026 · @Gabriel)

Recommendation: fly out Thursday night (Nov 12), stay three nights, fly home Sunday night (Nov 15). It costs one extra hotel night but gives you a full, relaxed Friday and avoids a Friday-evening flight that runs into Shabbat.
Saturday Nov 14 is Shabbat. In Las Vegas, candle lighting Friday Nov 13 is about 4:15 PM and Shabbat ends Saturday about 5:20 PM (approximate; confirm on chabad.org). Kosher restaurants are closed Friday night through Saturday afternoon, so the birthday dinner and cake work best Saturday night after Havdalah, followed by an evening show.
Estimated total for 4 travelers (2 adults, 2 kids):

Plan | Flights (RT, 4 ppl) | Suite (taxes + resort fee incl.) | Food, show, cake, rides | Total estimate
Depart Thu Nov 12 (3 nights) | $650–$1,200 | $3,300–$7,500 | $1,200–$2,200 | $5,150–$10,900
Depart Fri Nov 13 (2 nights) | $600–$1,100 | $2,200–$5,000 | $1,000–$1,900 | $3,800–$8,000
The F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is the following weekend (Nov 21), so your dates avoid race-week hotel pricing. Prices are estimates from published fares and rate listings as of Oct 15; live checkout prices will vary.
Flights: Thursday vs Friday
PHX–LAS is about 1 hour nonstop, and three airlines fly it nonstop: Southwest (about 64–68 flights a week), American (about 33–37) and Frontier (about 14–21) (Google Flights, KAYAK). Southwest was showing a $59 one-way Basic fare for Fri Nov 13 (Southwest).
Option | Outbound | Return Sun Nov 15 (evening) | Est. per person, round trip | Est. 4 people | Pros / cons
A. Thu Nov 12 night | Southwest or American, ~6–9 PM | Southwest or American, ~6–9 PM | $160–$300 | $650–$1,200 | Full free Friday; no Shabbat timing pressure; one more hotel night
B. Fri Nov 13 evening | Southwest ~$59 Basic seen; most evening flights land after the ~4:15 PM candle lighting | Same as A | $150–$275 | $600–$1,100 | Cheaper overall; only practical if you take a flight landing by ~2 PM, which means taking Friday off anyway
By airline (estimated one-way, per person):
Airline | Typical fare | Bags | Best for
Southwest | $59–$150 | Check carefully: Basic fares now have bag fees and assigned seats | Most departure times, easy changes on higher fare classes
American | $60–$160 | Carry-on included; checked bag ~$35 | Main-cabin seats together, AAdvantage points
Frontier | $25–$90 | Carry-on and checked bags extra ($40–$70 each) | Lowest base fare; fewer flights, so less flexible
Sunday-evening returns from Vegas are the most expensive leg of a weekend trip; booking the return soon matters more than the outbound. Book a refundable or changeable fare if Shabbat timing could shift your plans.
Hotels: five-star suites with two bedrooms
Top pick: a Two-Bedroom Suite at The Venetian / Palazzo with one King plus two Queens — three real beds in two separate bedrooms, exactly your brief. The resort confirms its two-bedroom suites come as two Kings or one King and two Queens (Venetian suites); request the King + 2 Queens layout in writing.

Hotel & suite | Bedrooms / beds | Est. per night (before tax) | 2 nights (Fri) | 3 nights (Thu) | Notes
Venetian / Palazzo Two-Bedroom Suite | 2 BR: 1 King + 2 Queens (or 2 Kings) | $900–$2,000 | $2,150–$4,650 | $3,200–$7,000 | Best fit; next to Sphere; Prestige club add-on charges $50/night per extra guest aged 5–20
Encore Resort Two Queens × 2, connecting | 2 separate suites, 4 Queens total | from $461 each = ~$925 | ~$2,200 | ~$3,300 | Forbes Five-Star; most beds for the money; connecting rooms booked through Suiteness

Encore Two-Bedroom Apartment | 2 BR, a King in each (add a rollaway for a 3rd bed) | Call only, typically $3,000–$6,000+ | $7,000–$14,000+ | $10,500–$21,000+ | 3,475 sq ft, private Tower entrance, $200/day breakfast credit; book at (702) 770-7077
Four Seasons One-Bedroom Suite + connecting room | 2 rooms: 2 Queens + sofabed, plus King or 2 Queens | $900–$1,500 combined | $2,150–$3,500 | $3,200–$5,200 | Non-gaming, quiet, family-friendly; no true 2-BR suite listed, so ask for connecting
"2 nights" and "3 nights" include the Strip's 13.38% room tax and an estimated $50–$60 nightly resort fee. Suite rates move fast; call each hotel's suites desk and quote the dates, since two-bedroom inventory often isn't bookable online.
Kosher dining (meat, fish, vegetarian — no dairy, no sushi)
Birthday dinner: Anise Tapas & Grill, Saturday night after Shabbat. It is glatt kosher under the Vaad Harabonim of Greater Las Vegas and is listed as open Saturday evenings from about 7 PM (DineDazz, Las Vegas Advisor). All certified kosher restaurants are off-Strip on the west side, about 15–20 minutes by car. Every meat restaurant below is non-dairy by definition; dairy (cholov yisroel) spots are left out.

Restaurant | Address | Type & certification | Fish picks | Vegetarian / vegan picks | Price | Best slot
Anise Tapas & Grill | 3100 S Durango Dr | Meat, glatt, VHLV; Moroccan-Mediterranean-Spanish tapas | Fish of the day, grilled or in tagine (ask) | Avocado empanadillas, salads, vegetable tapas | $25–$75/person | Sat Nov 14 birthday dinner (reserve: 702-586-4088)
Burnt Offerings | 3909 W Sahara Ave #10 | Meat, upscale "New Yiddish"; OU / VHLV listed | Ask for the fish of the day | Vegetable sides, salads | $31–$50 | Thu night or Sun dinner (Sun–Thu 5–10 PM) — the foodie dinner
Jerusalem Chef's Table | 4825 W Flamingo Rd #10 | Meat, glatt, Mediterranean | Salmon Casablanca in a tagine | Vegan moussaka (pareve cheese), hummus, babaganush, salads | Under $30 | Fri lunch + pick up Shabbat meals; skip the sushi rolls
PITAS | 5115 Spring Mountain Rd | Meat, glatt, Israeli street food | — | Large vegetarian menu, falafel | $ | Closest to the Strip; Sun lunch before the airport
Tikva's Grill | 2101 S Decatur Blvd #10 | Meat, Chabad of Southern Nevada hashgacha | — | Hummus bowls | $ | Quick casual meal
Arissa | 10100 Banburry Cross Dr | Fully pareve, glatt; takeout/delivery only | Ask | Whole menu is meat- and dairy-free | $$ | Delivery to the suite
Shabbat plan: order Friday-night and Saturday-lunch meals ahead from a kosher restaurant's Shabbat menu and pick up before about 2 PM Friday; the suite's fridge holds them. Some hotels can also source sealed, certified meals on request.
Diabetic-friendly ordering: lean toward grilled fish, kebabs and big salads; ask for sauces on the side; go light on rice, pita, fries and date-based glazes. Verify each restaurant's current certificate on arrival, since hechsherim change — Jerusalem Chef's Table's listing doesn't name its agency.
Saturday, November 14: the birthday
Plan a walkable Shabbat day on the Strip, then a big night: dinner at Anise at 7 PM and Mystère at 9 PM. Buy all evening tickets before Shabbat.
Morning–afternoon (free, walkable from the Venetian): St. Mark's Square and the Grand Canal Shoppes, the Bellagio Conservatory seasonal garden, the Bellagio fountains (every 15–30 min), the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat. Rest and Shabbat lunch in the suite.

~5:20 PM: Shabbat ends; Havdalah in the suite, then cake and candles (see Cake).
7:00 PM: Birthday dinner at Anise (20 min by car).
9:00 PM: Evening show, or a High Roller ride at night.

Activity | When on Nov 14 | Price per person | Est. family of 4 | Kids?
Mystère, Treasure Island | 6:30 or 9:00 PM | $48–$86 online ($59–$113 at the gate) | $190–$450 | Most family-friendly Cirque
O, Bellagio | 7:00 or 9:30 PM | $109–$250+ | $440–$1,000+ | Yes; the showpiece pick
Sphere Experience: Postcard from Earth | Evening showings (check times) | From ~$99 | From ~$400 | Yes; next door to the Venetian
High Roller observation wheel, LINQ | Night ride | $34.75 adult / $17.50 youth (+ tax) | ~$105 | Yes; 30-min ride over the lit Strip
Teddy Swims concert, T-Mobile Arena | 7:00 PM | From $46 | From $185 | Conflicts with dinner; eat early or skip
Lisa: Viva La Lisa, Colosseum at Caesars | Nov 14 show | Check Ticketmaster (high demand) | — | A fit if your 14-year-old is a K-pop fan
Bellagio Conservatory & fountains | All day | Free | Free | Yes
Not on Saturday: the Golden Knights play away in Tampa on Nov 14; home games are Fri Nov 13 vs Nashville (Shabbat) and Sun Nov 15, 6 PM vs Vancouver, from $117 (KTNV schedule, TickPick) — worth it only with a late Sunday flight. If you don't keep Shabbat, move the Sphere to Saturday afternoon and the birthday dinner earlier.
Birthday cake: Las Vegas vs Goldbelly
Best pick: Butterflake Bakery's 7-Layer Rainbow Cake from Goldbelly, $59.95 plus shipping, delivered to the hotel Thursday or Friday. It is listed as kosher, pareve and pas Yisroel, with no butter or milk in the ingredients (Goldbelly). Most famous Goldbelly and Las Vegas birthday cakes are dairy and uncertified, so they don't fit your kitchen.
Option | Kosher / dairy | Price | Serves | Delivery | Verdict
Butterflake 7-Layer Rainbow Cake (Goldbelly) | Kosher, pareve, pas Yisroel | $59.95 + shipping (est. $0–$30) = ~$60–$90 | 4–6 (~1 lb) | Ships frozen with ice packs | Recommended; order 2 if you want leftovers
Milk Bar Birthday Cake (Goldbelly) | Not certified; milk, butter, cream cheese | $65 + shipping = ~$65–$95 | 10–12 (6") | Ships frozen | The "iconic" comparison only — not usable for you
Custom pareve cake from a certified kosher restaurant or caterer in Las Vegas (ask Anise or Jerusalem Chef's Table) | Certified pareve if they confirm | Typically $60–$150 | Your choice | Served at the birthday dinner | Most personal: name, number candles, served Saturday night; call 2–3 weeks ahead
Packaged certified-pareve cake from One Stop Kosher Market | Certified pareve | ~$15–$40 | 6–10 | Pick up Friday before Shabbat | Reliable, budget backup
Local custom bakers listing "kosher" (Chaya's Catering, Delores' Delightz) | Chaya's describes itself as kosher-style; supervision not stated | Quote | Custom | Delivery | Only if they show a recognized hechsher
Goldbelly shipping: the fee appears at checkout and depends on item, destination and date; many items ship free on select dates, and Saturday delivery costs extra (Goldbelly help). Pick a Thursday Nov 12 or Friday Nov 13 delivery, address it to the guest name with "Arriving 11/12", and ask the bell desk to hold it frozen.
For the diabetic guest: plan small slices and add a fresh-fruit platter, or ask the kosher caterer about a reduced-sugar pareve cake.

New sections are planted; starting with walking times, then kid activities and hiking.

[Used Claude Docs, read 9 pages, searched the web]
I added four new sections to the trip plan: walking times from each hotel, activities for the 8-year-old, hiking, and whether Las Vegas is the right fit.
My verdict is that Las Vegas works well for this trip, so I didn't build out a full alternative. The doc names Los Angeles and San Diego as backups but doesn't price them yet; I can if you want.
For the 8-year-old, the best hike is White Domes in Valley of Fire, or Calico Tanks at Red Rock, which needs a timed-entry reservation. Plan hikes for Friday or Sunday morning, since every trailhead needs a car.

The walking times are my own estimates of casino-to-casino walks, not measured routes. They make the Venetian the most walkable base, especially for Shabbat.
Sections added to the document:
Walking times from each hotel
The Venetian/Palazzo is the most walkable base for this trip: Mystère, the Sphere, the High Roller and the Fashion Show mall are all within about 15 minutes on foot. The Four Seasons sits inside Mandalay Bay at the far south end, so most sights there need a tram, cab or rideshare.
Destination | From Venetian / Palazzo | From Encore / Wynn | From Four Seasons
Mystère (Treasure Island) | 5–10 min | 12–15 min | Rideshare (15 min)
Fashion Show mall | 10 min | 8–10 min | Rideshare
Sphere | 10–15 min (indoor bridge) | 15–20 min | Rideshare
High Roller / LINQ Promenade | 10–15 min | 20–25 min | Rideshare
Flamingo Wildlife Habitat | 15 min | 25 min | Rideshare
Bellagio fountains & Conservatory | 20–25 min | 30–35 min | 40+ min; rideshare
Shark Reef (Mandalay Bay) | Rideshare (15 min) | Rideshare | 5–10 min, indoors

Luxor / Blue Man Group | Rideshare | Rideshare | 10 min (free tram or indoor walkway)
T-Mobile Arena | 35–40 min | 45 min | 25–30 min
"Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign | Rideshare | Rideshare | 20 min
Times are estimated casino-to-casino walks at a family pace; Strip blocks are long and routes go through casinos and bridges, so allow extra time with an 8-year-old. The Encore and Wynn connect indoors (2–3 min). On Shabbat, the Venetian puts the Bellagio Conservatory and fountains within one easy walk; the Four Seasons does not.
For the 8-year-old
Las Vegas has plenty for an 8-year-old; put the paid, driving activities on Friday and Sunday, and keep Saturday to the free, walkable sights. The best fits are the Shark Reef, the Adventuredome, the Springs Preserve butterfly habitat, Mystère and a night ride on the High Roller.
Activity | Where | Price | Best day | Why it works for an 8-year-old
Shark Reef Aquarium | Mandalay Bay | $31 adult; reduced child rate (5–12); 4 and under free | Fri or Sun (entries 10 AM–6 PM) | Sharks, rays, a walk-through tunnel; about 1–1.5 hours
Adventuredome | Circus Circus (indoor) | All-day pass ~$60 (48"+) or ~$30 junior; single rides $8–$13 | Fri or Sun | Indoor theme park with rides sized for kids; weekend hours ~10/11 AM–9 PM

Springs Preserve + butterfly habitat | 15 min west of the Strip | ~$19 adult / ~$11 child for visitors (residents pay $9.95 / $4.95) | Fri or Sun (habitat Thu–Mon 10 AM–3 PM, through Nov 23) | Gardens, animals, a seasonal butterfly house; includes the Nevada State Museum
Mystère | Treasure Island | $48–$86 online | Sat 9 PM, or the 6:30 PM show Sun if your flight is late | Acrobatics and clowning; the most kid-friendly Cirque show
High Roller | LINQ | $34.75 adult / $17.50 youth (night) | Sat after Havdalah | 30-minute ride over the lit-up Strip
Sphere: Postcard from Earth | Next to the Venetian | From ~$99 | Fri day or Sat night | Huge immersive screen; the film is suitable for kids
Bellagio Conservatory & fountains, Flamingo Wildlife Habitat | Center Strip | Free | Sat (walkable) | Flowers, fountains on music, flamingos and pelicans
Ethel M Holiday Cactus Garden | Henderson | Free | Thu or Sun evening (lights 5–10 PM) | Cactus garden lit for the holidays, returns in early November
Skip Absinthe and other adult revues (18+). Visitor prices for the Springs Preserve are estimated from its published resident discount.
Hiking near Las Vegas
Best family hike: White Domes in Valley of Fire on Friday morning, or Calico Tanks at Red Rock with a timed-entry reservation. Both are about 2 miles and doable for an 8-year-old. Hike Friday (with the Thursday arrival) or Sunday morning, since every trailhead needs a car. You'll need a rental car or a guided tour.
Trail | Area | Distance | Difficulty | Drive from the Strip | Good for an 8-year-old? | Entry
White Domes Loop | Valley of Fire | ~1.1 mi loop (~2 mi with side trips) | Easy | ~1 hr | Yes — red sandstone, a mini slot canyon; Atlatl Rock petroglyphs nearby | $15 per non-Nevada vehicle; sunrise–sunset

Fire Wave | Valley of Fire | ~1.5 mi round trip (up to 7 mi as a longer loop) | Easy–moderate | ~1 hr | Yes, short version | Same park fee
Calico Tanks | Red Rock Canyon | 2.4 mi round trip | Easy–moderate, some rock steps | ~30 min | Yes, with a view back to the Strip | $20 per vehicle; timed-entry reservation needed 8 AM–5 PM (Oct 1–May 31) on Recreation.gov
Ice Box Canyon | Red Rock Canyon | 2 mi round trip | Challenging; boulder scrambling | ~35 min | For confident climbers only | Same as above
Petroglyph Canyon | Sloan Canyon NCA | 2 mi round trip | Easy–moderate | ~30 min | Yes — 300+ ancient rock drawings | Check current access rules
Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail | Lake Mead NRA | Up to 6.8 mi round trip, flat | Easy | ~40 min | Yes — walk to the first tunnels and turn back | Lake Mead NRA vehicle fee
Mary Jane Falls / Cathedral Rock | Mount Charleston | ~2 mi / 0.5 mi loop | Moderate / easy | ~45 min | Cathedral Rock yes; ice and snow possible in November | Free
November is prime hiking weather in the desert (cool mornings, mild afternoons); bring layers, 1 liter of water per person and snacks. With Red Rock, arriving before 8 AM avoids the reservation requirement, but you still pay the entry fee. Trail details: Bounce hiking guide.
Is Las Vegas the right fit?
Yes — Las Vegas works well for this trip. It is a 1-hour nonstop with many flights, has true two-bedroom five-star suites, about eight certified kosher meat restaurants (including one open Saturday night for the birthday), easy family hikes, and plenty for an 8-year-old and a teenager. The trade-offs are manageable: kosher dining is 15–20 minutes off the Strip, casinos are smoky in places, and Shabbat means planning Saturday around walking.
If you'd still like a backup, two nearby cities fit the same brief; I haven't priced them yet:
City | Nonstop from PHX | Why it could beat Vegas | Trade-off
Los Angeles | ~1 hr 20 min (LAX or Burbank) | Largest kosher restaurant scene in the West (Pico-Robertson, Beverly Hills), walkable Shabbat neighborhoods, beaches, Universal Studios | Traffic; suites cost as much or more
San Diego | ~1 hr 15 min | Calmer and very kid-friendly (Zoo, beaches, La Jolla tide pools), coastal hiking | Smaller kosher scene; fewer five-star two-bedroom suites
Say the word and I'll build either one out with flights, hotels, kosher dining, activities and prices.

Outline for the five cities is in the doc; researching kosher dining and flights first.
[Used Claude Docs, read 18 pages, searched the web]
I added a Texas & New Orleans comparison to the trip plan: a side-by-side table, a section per city, and a 40th-birthday ranking.

Best for a 40th: Las Vegas still comes first, and Houston is the best alternative. Houston is the only one with a Forbes Five-Star hotel (The Post Oak) plus glatt kosher restaurants open Saturday night after Shabbat, such as Taste of Tel Aviv. It also has Space Center Houston for the 8-year-old.
The rest:

A few hotels on your list don't meet the brief:

Airfares and hotel rates for these cities are estimates from published route fares and listings, not live quotes for your dates. All five cities are an hour ahead of Phoenix, so Shabbat starts around 5:10–5:20 PM local time.
Want me to build Houston out to the same level of detail as the Las Vegas plan?

Section added to the document:
Texas & New Orleans vs Las Vegas
Las Vegas still wins for this weekend; Houston is the best alternative. Houston has Texas's deepest certified-kosher scene (including meat restaurants open Saturday night), a Forbes Five-Star hotel and Space Center Houston for the 8-year-old. Austin, San Antonio and New Orleans have almost no certified sit-down kosher restaurants, and Dallas's are 20–30 minutes from the luxury hotels. All five cities are on Central time, one hour ahead of Phoenix, so Shabbat starts around 5:10–5:20 PM local.
City | Nonstop time | Airlines (nonstop) | Est. RT airfare, 4 people | Top hotel fit (2 sleeping rooms) | Certified kosher dining | For an 8-year-old | 40th-birthday score
Las Vegas (current plan) | ~1 hr | Southwest, American, Frontier | $650–$1,200 | Venetian 2-BR suite | ~8 meat spots; Anise open Sat night | Excellent | 9/10
Houston | 2 h 30–2 h 55 | Southwest (Hobby); United, American, Frontier (IAH) | $900–$1,700 | The Post Oak (Forbes Five-Star) | 7+ glatt meat; two open Sat night | Excellent (NASA) | 8/10
Dallas | 2 h 20–2 h 50 | American, Frontier (DFW); Southwest (Love Field) | $850–$1,600 | Rosewood Mansion / Ritz-Carlton | 4 meat restaurants, far north | Very good | 7/10
New Orleans | 2 h 50–3 h 15 | Southwest, American | $1,500–$2,400 | Four Seasons 2-BR suite | One deli (closed Sat); no sit-down | Good | 6/10 — best party city, weakest kosher
San Antonio | 2 h 00–2 h 20 | Southwest, American | $800–$1,500 | InterContinental Riverwalk (2 rooms) | One Chabad-run meat spot, far north | Very good | 6/10
Austin | ~2 h 10 | Southwest, American | $850–$1,600 | Four Seasons 2-BR suite | Takeout deli only | Good | 5/10
Airfares are estimates built from published route fares (see each city); suites and dining details follow.
Houston
Stay at The Post Oak, eat glatt kosher in Bellaire/Meyerland 15 minutes away, and spend a day at Space Center Houston. Two kosher meat restaurants open Saturday night after Shabbat, which makes a proper birthday dinner possible.
Flights: Southwest to Hobby (~2 h 40 min); United (5–6 daily), American and Frontier to IAH (2 h 32–2 h 54) (FlightsFrom). Hobby one-ways have been listed from about $109 (Expedia); budget $220–$420 round trip per person.
Hotel | Rooms for 4 | Est. per night | Walkable from the hotel
The Post Oak (Uptown) | Suite + connecting room | $900–$1,800 | Houston's only Forbes Five-Star; the Galleria (10 min), Mastro's, a Rolls-Royce showroom; spa and pool
Four Seasons Houston (Downtown) | Suite + connecting room | $700–$1,400 | Discovery Green park across the street, Downtown Aquarium (15 min)

Kosher dining (all HKA and MKT certified per Aishel House):
Restaurant | Type | Fish / vegetarian | Hours that fit
Casa Bar & Grill, 5711 Bissonnet | Upscale glatt meat, Latin touches | Ask for fish; vegetable sides | Sun–Thu 4–10 PM — the Thursday or Sunday splurge
Prime Grill & Bar, 5621 Beechnut | Upscale glatt meat, Israeli steakhouse | Eggplant carpaccio | Sun–Thu
Taste of Tel Aviv, 9804 Hillcroft | Glatt meat (dairy side next door) | Grilled fish, salads | Sat 7:30–11 PM — birthday dinner
Oh Mama Kitchen, 9806 Hillcroft | Kosher (check meat/dairy) | — | Sat 7:30–11 PM
Saba's Grill & Wok, 5417 S. Braeswood | Glatt meat, Israeli + Chinese | Falafel, vegetable lo mein | Fri until 3:30 PM — Shabbat pickup
Dave's Crunch House, 5711 Bissonnet | Glatt meat, Southern comfort | — | Sun–Thu; the kid-friendly pick
For the 8-year-old: Space Center Houston (~45 min), the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Children's Museum Houston (Museum District), the Houston Zoo, and the Downtown Aquarium.
Fit for a 40th: polished and food-friendly, though not a party town; the Post Oak's spa and a Saturday-night kosher dinner make a strong grown-up celebration.
Dallas
Dallas works if you don't mind driving 20–30 minutes north for every kosher meal. Its four certified meat restaurants are in North Dallas, Richardson and Plano; the luxury hotels are in Uptown and Turtle Creek.
Flights: American flies 13–14 nonstops a day to DFW and Frontier 2–3 (2 h 20–2 h 48) (FlightsFrom); Southwest flies to Love Field, with fares listed from $104 one-way (Southwest). Budget $210–$400 round trip per person.
Hotel | Rooms for 4 | Est. per night | Walkable from the hotel
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek | Suite + connecting room | $900–$1,800 | Turtle Creek park trail; a quiet, classic luxury base
The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas (Uptown) | Suite + connecting room | $800–$1,600 | Klyde Warren Park, Perot Museum and the Arts District, ~15–20 min
Kosher dining (Dallas Kosher–certified per dallaskosher.org):
Restaurant | Type | Notes
Meat Point, 7114 Campbell Rd | Mediterranean steakhouse, meat | Full-time mashgiach; private dining room for a birthday
Aderet, 13410 Preston Rd | International meat | Homemade pareve desserts daily
Milk & Honey, 420 N. Coit Rd, Richardson | Middle Eastern & American meat | Dallas's oldest kosher meat restaurant
Olive & Fig, 2909 W 15th St, Plano | Upscale Mediterranean | Reservations suggested
K-Market Grocery & Deli | Meat counter, pareve bakery | Shabbat meals to order
Saturday-night hours aren't listed for these; call ahead.
For the 8-year-old: the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Klyde Warren Park, the Dallas World Aquarium, the Dallas Zoo, and the Fort Worth Stockyards cattle drive (~45 min).
Fit for a 40th: big-city polish and a private room at Meat Point, but the north-south driving takes the shine off a short weekend.
Austin
Austin has the best hotel on your list for a family — the Four Seasons' true two-bedroom suite — but no certified sit-down kosher restaurant. You'd eat from the certified H-E-B Kosher Store deli and pre-ordered meals all weekend.
Flights: Southwest flies about 6 nonstops a day (4 on Saturdays), about 2 h 12 min, with Basic fares listed from $107 one-way (Southwest); American also flies nonstop. Budget $220–$400 round trip per person.
Hotel | Rooms for 4 | Est. per night | Walkable from the hotel
Four Seasons Austin | Congressional Two-Bedroom Suite, 1,561 sq ft, 2 Kings | $2,000–$3,500 | Lady Bird Lake trail (on site), Congress Ave bridge, Rainey St (10 min)
Austin Proper | Suite + connecting room | $800–$1,500 | 2nd Street District shops, Lady Bird Lake, Congress Ave (5–10 min)
The Driskill | Suite + connecting room | $600–$1,200 | Historic 1886 landmark on 6th St; Capitol (10 min). Not five-star; 6th St is loud at night
Commodore Perry Estate (Auberge) | Two rooms needed | $1,200–$2,500 | Beautiful estate, but not walkable to sights and mostly one-bedroom layouts
Kosher food: the H-E-B Kosher Store, 7025 Village Center Dr, has a deli under the Vaad Hakashrus of Austin (meats, rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, meals to go, catering) and a bakery; Shevet Cafe is inside the Dell JCC. For Shabbat meals, contact Chabad of Austin. There is no restaurant for a sit-down birthday dinner.
For the 8-year-old: Thinkery children's museum, kayaking or a pedal boat on Lady Bird Lake, the Bullock Texas State History Museum, and Zilker Park. The Congress Ave bat colony has mostly migrated by mid-November.
Fit for a 40th: a great food-and-music city for most people, but a poor fit when you can't eat at its restaurants.
San Antonio
San Antonio is the most kid-friendly Texas option (River Walk, the Alamo, SeaWorld), but certified kosher food means one Chabad-run meat restaurant 25 minutes north of downtown. None of its luxury hotels offers a true two-bedroom suite, so plan on two rooms.
Flights: Southwest (4 daily) and American (2–3 daily), 2 h 00–2 h 22 (FlightsFrom). Budget $200–$380 round trip per person.
Hotel | Rooms for 4 | Est. per night | Walkable from the hotel
InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk | Two connecting rooms or suite + room | $500–$1,000 | AAA Four Diamond, opened 2024 at 111 E Pecan St; River Walk outside, the Alamo ~10 min
Hotel Emma (Pearl) | Two separate rooms — suites are one-bedroom and the hotel has no connecting rooms | $900–$2,000 | Pearl district market and River Walk Museum Reach; downtown 30 min on foot or a river taxi
Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort | Two rooms or a suite | $400–$800 | Not five-star and not walkable to the city, but a lazy river, pools and golf; near SeaWorld (10 min)
Kosher food: Yummy 770, a kosher Israeli meat restaurant at the Chabad Israeli Center (15511 Oak Grove Dr); the H-E-B Alon Market's kosher aisle and pareve pas Yisroel bakery; and The Shabbat Market for homemade catering. Confirm Saturday-night hours with Chabad (210-764-0300).
For the 8-year-old: River Walk boat tour, the Alamo, the DoSeum children's museum, the Witte Museum, SeaWorld San Antonio, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
Fit for a 40th: charming and easy with kids, but thin on luxury suites and kosher dining.
New Orleans
New Orleans is the most festive place for a 40th, but it is the hardest for kosher food: there is no certified sit-down restaurant, only a deli in Metairie that closes for Shabbat. The French Quarter's former kosher restaurant, Creole Kosher Kitchen, closed after Hurricane Katrina (Wikipedia).
Flights: Southwest (1–2 daily) and American (1 daily), 2 h 50–3 h 16 (FlightsFrom); Southwest fares listed from $189 one-way (Southwest). Budget $380–$600 round trip per person; few flights means less flexibility.
Hotel | Rooms for 4 | Est. per night | Walkable from the hotel
Four Seasons New Orleans | City-View Two-Bedroom Suite | $1,800–$3,500 | Foot of Canal St: Audubon Aquarium (5 min), French Quarter and Jackson Square (10–15 min), the riverfront

Windsor Court | Suite + connecting room | $800–$1,600 | French Quarter (10 min), Warehouse District museums
Kosher food: Kosher Cajun, 3519 Severn Ave, Metairie — a certified New York–style deli and grocery (pastrami, corned beef, whitefish); Mon–Thu 10 AM–7 PM, Fri and Sun 10 AM–3 PM, closed Saturday. Expect to pre-order Shabbat meals and eat most dinners in the suite; the birthday dinner would be a private kosher caterer.
For the 8-year-old: Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium, Audubon Zoo, a streetcar ride on St. Charles Ave, City Park's Storyland, and a Mississippi riverboat cruise.
Fit for a 40th: unmatched atmosphere, jazz and history, but you'd be giving up restaurants entirely, which matters more on a birthday weekend.
Best for a 40th birthday
Pick Las Vegas; if you'd rather go somewhere new, pick Houston.
Want me to build Houston out to the same level as the Las Vegas plan, with day-by-day timing and a cake option?
